Your data, protected
Privacy policy
Chester Road Dental Care aims to meet the requirements of the Data Protection Act 2018, the UK GDPR, and the guidance of the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). This page summarises how we look after your information — at the practice and on this website.
This website sets no cookies and uses no trackers. There is no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party embeds — every file (including fonts) is served from our own domain. If you use the online registration form, your answers are saved only in your own browser's local storage on your own device, and nothing is transmitted over the internet unless you choose to email us yourself.
Who we are
The data controller is Chester Road Dental Care Ltd, 11 Chester Road, Poynton, Stockport, Cheshire SK12 1EU. If you have an enquiry or request, please contact Lisa-Marie Kitchen — email info@chesterroaddentalcare.co.uk or phone 01625 876900.
What we collect, and why
As a dental practice we process personal data such as your name, contact details, date of birth, medical and dental history, treatment plans, X-rays and appointment dates — and, where relevant, more sensitive special-category data such as health records and ethnicity. We process this data to care for you safely and effectively: to maintain your clinical record, discuss treatment options, provide preventative advice, manage appointments and reminders, communicate with your next of kin in an emergency, and meet our legal and professional obligations.
Your rights
- Access — ask for a copy of the data we hold about you
- Rectification — correct or complete inaccurate information
- Erasure — ask us to delete personal data (some clinical information must legally be retained)
- Restriction — limit how we use your data, e.g. stop appointment reminders
- Portability — transfer your data, e.g. electronically to another dentist
- Withdraw consent — at any time, including for marketing communications
How long we keep information
We minimise the data we keep, and do not keep it for longer than necessary. We keep your records for 11 years after the date of your last visit to the practice, or until you reach the age of 25, whichever is longer. At your request, we will delete non-essential information before the end of this period.
How we store and share information
Your information is stored securely on our practice computer system using high-quality specialist dental software with a secure audit trail and routine backups. Only those working at the practice have access, and they understand their legal responsibility to maintain confidentiality. To provide you with appropriate care we might need to share minimal data with, for example, another health professional caring for you, your GP, a laboratory, NHS payment authorities or a private dental scheme you belong to. Patient information will never be released to a third party without your express permission, except in exceptional circumstances required by law.
