Frequently asked questions
Can't find what you're looking for? Call us on 01625 876900 or see our patient information page.
Are you taking on new patients?
Yes — new patients are very welcome. All new patients are offered care on a private basis, with children normally seen under the NHS. The quickest way to join is to register online; alternatively phone or email the practice and we'll arrange a time convenient for you.
Do you see children on the NHS?
Yes, children are normally seen under the NHS. We recommend seeing children from as young as 12 months old — early visits are all about prevention, confidence and helping mum or dad know what to encourage and what to avoid.
What happens in a dental emergency?
We make every effort to see all regular patients for emergency care as soon as possible — usually the same day. Outside normal hours, ring the surgery on 01625 876900 for further instructions, or ring the NHS 111 service (free from landlines and mobiles) or visit 111.nhs.uk.
I'm nervous about the dentist — can you help?
Absolutely — it's something we're known for. Appointments are arranged so we can spend time getting to know you and listening to your concerns. For patients who need extra support, IV sedation is available with Dr John. Many of our five-star reviews come from formerly nervous patients.
How much does treatment cost?
Our fees are fully transparent — an examination is £49.50 and all fillings are £175, whatever the tooth. See the full fee schedule. A customised written estimate is given with every treatment plan, and payment is due on the day of treatment.
Do you offer a dental plan?
Yes — the Standard Plan (£18.50/month) and Hygiene Plan (£24.50/month) both include two exams with scale & polish, X-rays, emergency consultation fees, preventative advice and worldwide Dental A&E cover. There's no registration fee; new patients just need an examination first.
Do you offer tooth whitening?
Yes — professional tooth whitening with custom-fit trays, a full kit with four tubes of whitening solution, and a follow-up assessment to review progress (£395). You'll need to be dentally fit with a recent examination first — just ask the team about your suitability.
Is there parking at the practice?
There is limited parking available at the practice, and car parks in the village centre. We're on Chester Road within 200 metres of St George's Church. We suggest leaving plenty of time to ensure appointments are not delayed. Find us here.
What about disabled access?
We aim for those with disabilities to be able to access our care. We have hand rails and small steps at the front door. Our WC facilities are currently located upstairs, so please explain your needs to reception before your appointment and we'll make every effort to accommodate you.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel on the day before, or the day of, your appointment there is a £35 cancellation fee (Monday appointments must be cancelled before 10am on Friday). Missed NHS appointments may result in the loss of an NHS place. We understand emergencies happen — where we can, discretion and fairness are used. Full details on our patient information page.
Can I choose which dentist I see?
Yes — you may express a preference for which dentist you would prefer to see, and we will make every effort to comply with your request. Meet our dentists.
How is my personal information handled?
We take confidentiality extremely seriously. Records are stored securely, accessed only by those caring for you, and never released to third parties without your express permission. See our privacy policy and the full privacy notices for patients and children.
